12 Bible verses to encourage and uplift you when you feel like giving up (With a free printable!) One of the things I struggle most with is discouragement. Not only am I hard on myself, but I can easily get down on myself and start thinking that what I’m doing isn’t making a difference. I …

Meal kit reviews: What I learned about cook-at-home kits

By Stacey A. Shannon on Tuesday, May 17, 2022

Cook-at-home kits taught me a few lessons I’ll continue to use even if I don’t continue to use the kits! When my daughter first proposed trying cook-at-home kits a few months ago, I was certainly hesitant to give them a try. But now, after trying multiple meal kit services, I’m glad we did so! I …

Meal kit reviews: Meal planning on my own

By Stacey A. Shannon on Tuesday, May 10, 2022

A series of unsponsored meal kit reviews and comparisons A few months ago, my daughter made a case for us to try meal kits. I wasn’t so sure at first; meal planning on my own worked. Whenever I had checked into them previously, they seemed expensive and didn’t have a lot of recipes we would …

How to stop eating out as much

10 Tips to eat at home more often If you’d have asked me a couple of years ago whether we eat at home more or eat out more, I’d have told you that we eat at home more. While that’s probably true, I realized it wasn’t nearly as true as I thought when COVID struck. …

What a grace-filled marriage looks like

By Stacey A. Shannon on Thursday, April 28, 2022

10 Tips for having a grace-filled marriage I’m not a graceful person. In fact, a couple of weeks ago, I watched in awe as middle schoolers jumped hurdles during a track meet. I trip over my own two feet and can’t imagine I’d fare well trying to run and jump over a hurdle. I have …

About This Blog

Welcome to Families with Grace! My name is Stacey, and I’m a follower of Jesus, a wife, a mom of two kiddos and a freelance journalist. I share a little bit of all of that here on Families with Grace along with some practical and spiritual tips. I am passionate about extending grace. God gives me so much grace when I flop and flail and mess up. Yet, He keeps on loving me. I’ve realized that grace plays such a huge role in family life. We can be so quick to extend grace and kindness to other people – sometimes complete strangers – and forget to do so inside our homes with the very people we love the most. Grace is a daily (sometimes minute-by-minute!) challenge, so this page is all about that. You’ll find lessons I’ve learned as a Christian, a wife and a mom. I share emotional and spiritual thoughts as well as practical ones. Even a family with grace needs practical ideas for how to make life run smoother and easier. Join me on the journey to create a home filled with grace, love and faith as we build our Families with Grace!

About Me
Stacey
Stacey

I fell in love with writing when I was a child; it has always been part of my life. I have two degrees in journalism and started my own freelance writing company in 2002. I continue to work as a freelance journalist, copywriter and editor. Along with that, I have been married to my high school sweetheart since 1999. In 2009 and 2013, our family grew to include first a daughter and then a son. I deal with a couple of chronic illnesses and feel blessed to be able to work from home while my kiddos are at school. My husband works from home the majority of the time as well. Thankfully, we still enjoy being together and have learned to give each other a lot of grace! Even through the trials of life, God has been so good to us. I love being able to share with you what He is doing in our lives!
